100 / #100HAPPYDAYS

Hey everyone I hope you all had a 'Very Merry Christmas'.. today is boxing day and yesterday was the last of my #100HAPPYDAYS challenge.  Which if you wish too see you can go my instagram or see the pictures.. (totally didn't do a blog at 80 oopse!) But But But.  I totally fudged up and not one person pointed it out.  We had 2 94 days!!  And it didn't end on Christmas but on Christmas Eve!!  So I actually (and accidentally) did 101 Happy Days..  Oopse.  Here they all are including 2 94's..

I did actually post on my last picture "And this is the last of my #100HAPPYDAYS and what I learned was you simply can't constantly be happy every single day for 100 days but you can find something to be happy about every single day. Things before I took for granted I know see as Lil blessings. And each happy day has given me hope, joy, excitement and it really has encouraged me to find happiness even in the sad times. It's been am adventure and what a way to end this 100 HAPPY DAYS. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year to you and yours x x" - Although in the last 24 hours I've decided I'm not going to do an additional 100 more.. as I was going to set myself that challenge but instead I decided to continue on finding me again and finding myself and getting back to my personal and spiritual journey.  Along side the art and crafts and other beautiful things.  I'm very grateful to whom ever invented this challenge as it really has opened my eyes - thank you.

In Storage!!

So December has been pretty crazy for me thus far.  Today is Christmas Eve and what a time I'm having.  Not all that great and legally I'm not allowed to talk about a whole bunch of it.

Rest In Peace Nana

Right.  December 4th my Nan passed away.. which was very sad as it is when you lose a grandparent.  But also a blessing as she really was suffering.  Rather mixed emotions about that.

Moved / Moving...

Ontop of that a whole pile of crap with neighbours and landlord and the police.  Which me taking landlords advice and involving police regarding the situation.  Landlord then decided I'm a trouble maker and I can get out!!  I went to my Mums since I had no place to go as a vunerable and disabled person living in fear etc and now Landlord (same one) is trying to evict my whole family from this house for not getting his permission for me and my brother being here.  Ontop of that trying to charge my mum more rent and there is a solisitor involved and a whole mess I'm not allowed to go into more details about.  Infact possibly already wrote too much here.  Ah well.

So nearly all my stuff is in storage.

We're all looking at moving a.s.a.p and then I hope to try get back into art/crafts/jewellery properly once I have space to do so.

Turned 26!!

I did have a wonderful 26th Birthday which was lovely, TARDIS cake, wonderful meal.. family and presents..

Tomorrow being Christmas day it will infact be the last of my #100HAPPYDAYS though I am considering doing 100 more.. simply because I've had so much fun doing it.  And it's also helped me find something positive from each day even when I've been in a lot of pain, sick, utterly fedup.  And taught me that while you can not possibly just be happy for 100 days you can be happy about something everyday for more than 100 days.  That's what I'm taking away from this experience.  So probably tomorrow I will post more on that :)

Medical Stuff

Fwd from yesterdays #100HAPPYDAYS post (Day 098.) Spent the day at hospital but finally a bit of good news and a diagnostic. Which is hypersensitive over flexible joints causing painful over compensating tissue and muscles. Which we can call fybromialgia or a number of other things but I will be treat for chronic pain and general pain. The pain is very real it is not in my head. I've been taken off trTramadolnd codine and placed on patches which last 7 days each are generally stronger and release constant pain relief into my system along side that I'll also be receiving pain management, cognitive behavial therapy and physio. The doctor I saw today treats fibromyalgia along side a number of similar diagnostics. So in short for the first time in nearly 4 years things are actually going somewhere and things are actually being done. X

Erm.. so yeh.  Looking forward to Christmas.  Being 26 is already looking up and becoming much better than the crap while being 25 lol.  Lil dissapointed about lack of crafting at the minute.  Lots to do still got more boxes back at the flat to pack up and removals are bringing my stuff here on Monday 29th December and also got a lot of stuff to move in Mums back room so I can store stuff in there.    Medical stuff is looking up so we'll see how that goes.  Saving up towards moving.  Looking forward to Christmas tomorrow.

Really liking my festive nails.

Did a digital painting of Rudolph just to wish you all a Merry Christmas..

The Jewel in Jewellery Journey. Part 1.

I'm starting out jewellery making!!  Properly??

So I'm thinking given my experiences and such I'd rather like to get back into jewellery making.  I've dabbled on and off for a long time and always found pleasure in it.  Recently I was reading some articles about the possibility of coming off of benefits (I'm disabled) and actually making a living from the jewellery I make.  That's a long shot I know.. but for now getting back into it seems a massive and great step in the right direction.

So let me explain how I got started.. and what's brought me here.  I was in college some years back I did jewellery as one of my course projects in the 3D work shop class.  Lisa, my most wonderful teacher who was just so gifted and genuine and lovely, really saw the beauty and potential in everything and everyone but she was so disappointed in me when I said I wanted to do media studies and not fashion and not continue down the road of jewellery making. ~Which I'm now kicking myself for.  With that belief from Lisa that I was good enough to have potential to go on and be a jewellery designer and maker it was always playing in the back of my mind.  But my most favorite thing was soldering, welding, engraving, enameling and resin.  I'm sure there was more but those project where I got to use a blow torch and really get creative were the best.  I made a very very rustic copper huge charm braclet as my final piece and loved it until I lost it ..along with the rest of my jewellery and box.

Few years after that I got this bright idea I was going to set up a jewellery business making n selling jewellery.  Only at that point I didn't even know how to open a jump ring let alone turn an eye pin...  What I'd learnt in College wasn't even basics.. well it was but I didn't have a kiln or fire pit, or money for them kinda tools..  I purchased some cheap jewellery pliers, won some charms on eBay and bought some phone cords with the idea that I'd make and sell phone cord charms.  Only not only were they being sold cheaper than I could afford to make them...  but I had trouble with pliers and jump rings and just trying to get the charms to stay on was a mission.  I made some lovely charms and with hours it was a piece of cord and the charm was some place else.  Being so well 'me' that didn't matter because I had this website and a plan.  I'd worked very hard on making a website, though didn't know how to do much more than that.  Damn taking media instead of fashion.  lol.  So I packed it in.  Just didn't bother.  I had apx 100 charms, a few beads, cord and two or three tools.  No great loss.

A number of years later, I'd picked up a few crafting hobbies such as tag making, cards, mini albums and one or two altered crafts too.  And during that time I found "oh this would look lovely with a charm" ...and so looking on YouTube and A LOT of practice I learned how to turn an eye pin, correctly open a jump ring and soon enough I was pulling together various charms.  Which lead to beading.. which became charm braclets, necklaces and rings and then I got looking at Polymer clay which in turn paper clay / air dry clay (didn't like it), resin... mixed medium charms and all sorts.  And now while I'm not a pro by far but a few years on a I have a few odds and ends and basics down and while I only ever sold a few things and even then was probably far too generous on the price given the cost of materials.  Before even thinking about my time...

So lately I've been pondering and thinking it's something I'd like to go for and look into.  The only thing, aside from my disability, holding me back is the worry that I'll be commiting some kind of fraud or lose my entitlement to benefits and in turn lose my home and drum up a load of debt.  So it's something I'm going to seriously look into.

But that said.  I have been a huge fan of the very talented Brenda Sue for some time now,  And is one of my go too's when I'm looking for inspiration.  While the materials she works with might not be available to me 'cos of country or finance I still get some wonderful ideas and some knowledge from her.  I recently, Friday, discovered the facebook group which I have joined and everyone there is just so overly friendly and warm and sharing it's such an inspirational place. especially for jewellery makers.

So, that's where I'm at.  And a brief history.  But now.. I figure I'll start this new adventure and call it "The Jewel in Jewellery Journey" ...I hope to share my finds.,  And of course I'll post to my Facebook page @

The Room Project Part 1 of ?

Waking up to happy smiley furbabies made me wona do something positive!!

Decided my mission for this weekend it to clean up both my desks, my craft shelves, drawers etc and have a clear out and rearrange - mostly 'cos I'm sick to death of never being able to find anything lol. Plus going to reorganise some of my craft storage 'cos some things are just not working for me. Like keeping my beads at the other side of my room to both my desks..

There will be before/after and progress pictures. And possibly stuff up for sale... I'm dreaming if I think I'm going to get it all done this weekend though lol. But it's my plan   Thinking 'cos I know my curtains are too short anyway but try and put them up.. so my room stays warmer. Got some recycled / up-cycled ideas but it's going to have to involve muscles (sorry bro)

Today's progress.

1. Computer desk.  I've tidied up and reorganised and polished etc all my desk top and computer area.  Moved my tower from top of my desk to underneath which so far no problems.  Moved the corner unit onto my desk.  Switched out my lamp - need to get a bulb.  But looking cleaner.. which makes me more productive :3 hehe

2. I did a crafty craft.  Needed somewhere to store my most used brushes and makeup.. I don't have a mountain of room.. but I did make this small craft for under 50p! Got the glass in an antique/second hand shop for 20p and the diamant√© bling packet from poundland for obviously £1 and used two n a half pieces of the diamant√© strips to bling up the glass. Put my frequently used makeup n brushes in it since my rooms lacking a dresser this is now on my desk instead of a drawer

3. I cleared off my craft desk, got my brother to put up curtains I knew would be too short (but it's massively warmer in here now) and go gather some wood from a wardrobe my mum didn't want in her garage.  To stop my cats from being able to push my bead drawers over and then got my brother to move my bead drawers and now I've started reorganising my beads and my bookcase.

-To Be Continued-

DIY Record Bowls

DIY Record Bowls

So I was going to do a tutorial on how I did this, the tutorial I actually followed was a picture I saw on Pintrest but there's plenty of tutorial on YouTube hence why I didn't do a video tutorial (but I can if you want I really don't mind doing that!!)

Where I got my vynal records from:  A good while back my Dad gave me some old vynle records that are scratched or generally don't play any more.  Which made me have no hard feelings about making these bowls.  I wouldn't advise you go through your dads LP collection and start destroying valuables.  But the first video below has excellent demonstration of where to get them cheaply.  Such as record stores and even second hand shops.

How did I go about doing it: What I did was I took a baking tray which I actually use for crafting not food.  But a cheap baking tray will suffice or any with tinfoil over to protect it.. make sure you thoroughly wash it after as this process releases toxic fumes.  - Which reminds me.. work in a well ventilated area.  I then took a glass Pyrex round bowl and placed it upside down on the baking tray.  Placed the record over the top and pretty much followed the method of second video below.  After 30 seconds if not much less (with the oven on pretty high) I carefully took the tray out.  Using oven gloves I started to mold the record around the bowl.  And then taking it off the bowl quickly shaping it and holding it in place for a few seconds to cool down.  Much like how the bowl is molded in the third video I shared with you below.  I did burn my fingers a number of times doing this.

I learnt something while doing this: (TIP!) Once I had done 2-3 bowls I found the oven was too hot.  The records started to bubble and a horrible texture appeared not to mention the smell.  So I turned my oven off and left it half an hour before proceeding to make more bowls.  Over heated ovens cause problems!!

What to do with them: Well much like in the videos below they can be used for a multitude of different things.  Such as covering up the holes with ductape and you have...
  • A popcorn bowl
  • A potpourri dish
  • Candy dish (wrapped candy would be better)
  • I'm actually using one of mine to store my keys and pocket junk: perfect for HIM/DAD/SON/BROTHER this Christmas!!
  • I have another with jewellery in it.
  • Could also hold makeup or toiletries
  • LED Candles / LED Candle feature (not real candles plz)
  • Even turn into a bubble bath gift basket for HER/MUM/DAUGHTER/SISTER this Christmas!!
  • I have even spray painted one for my kid sister to keep her hair bobbles in!!
  • And of course since it's currently coming up Halloween...  Halloween sweets for all those Trick or Treat 'ers..
The possibilities are only limited to your imagination.

Getting BACK in to CRAFTING - DIY Halloween / Gothic Decor.

I'm getting BACK in to CRAFTING!!
DIY Halloween / Gothic Decor

I created a video on YouTube of how I made / where I bought these "Halloween" items - which I (like others can) will be keeping up all year long as I really love the whole "goth/gothic decor".

Quick. Easy. Last Minute. Low Budget. Home Decor. DIY.
