Disheartened with crafting.

So after everything that happened with Crafty Fairy Godmothers - Which wasn't my fault.  I made a new friend.. and things didn't exactly work out with her either.  Guess GOLD DIGGER comes to mind.  Conning people out of their generosity and giving her things so that she could sell them on for profit.  *sigh*.  So least for now I'm going to focus on other stuff and won't be as active on YouTube etc.

(ART) From this day forward; The Journey. Part 1.

Hey all,

So after my last deviantART journal of feeling hopeless with my art I've decided to take it back to the beginning.  "From this day forward; The Journey."

I've decided to rather than continue with a same old same old none progression path...  That I should start over, digital and traditional sketching...  Trying different techniques and perhaps even mediums...  so going to create an "art journal" out of an altered book!!

Along side with new art books, magazines and perhaps even and "ImagineFX" subscription - maybe.

Going to save towards getting a cintiqu 13HD...  Anyone got a personal review?  So far everything's singing and dancing however the screen/colour is a little "dull" and not monitor bright (apparently) but amazing for the price.  But generally purchasing such an item (despite it's extreme reasonable cost!) that won't be for a long long time based on lack of income, finances which seem to be higher with each bill, family events I have to attend this summer and continuing the work being done on my home not to mention the medical stuff with my hip grr.

Anyways there's a lot going on for me at the moment, so I won't keep you.

Imogen x

Ps. Yes I will still be doing my crafting, I want to get back into doing my YouTube videos...  lot has been happening as mentioned and it's just finding the time for creating & filming etc.

Dr Who Aniversary Theory - Imogen Cane

I have a theory... That the 50th Ani is gunna be of the time war and that John Hurt is gunna play the part of the Dr in The Great Time war. That Matt Smith is stuck in his past and with out TARDIS he needs parallel universe David Tennant to help him.

If you listen and look. Matt is clearly horrorfied to see John Hurt thus Matt smith must know who he is and mean he's from the past and not future Dr Timeline. ... That being said the only two real places someone would fit is at the beginning before Dr Who OR during the time war (makes most sense). See... Matt says that John Hurt didn't do it in the name of the Dr and broke the promise. Thoughts...

Promise - to never tell your real name to anyone, other than the one of whom you're betroved (River Song).

Also Matt says that "he is me" confirming John Hurt as The Doctor and then states "he didn't do it in the name of The Doctor". - Further theory... If you take it litterally then "Doctor"; man of science, healer, defeater, deffender... what does Doctor mean?? Generally good!! He always gives a choice and too many chances even to his worse enemies.. But.. That's not what we know to have happened in The Time War... Where The Time Lords were going to destroy all of time and space, and so the Doctor (who didn't/couldn't give them a choice) destroyed the Time Lords in the Time War... which... Could mean... that The Master AND The Time Lords may be in the 50th along with every known creature from the Time War, John Hurt, Matt Smith, David Tennant and??? (Apparently Captain Jack) could quite possibly be in the 50th Anniversary IF they do The Time War.

It's all kinda there.
Matt Knows John Hurt's Character.
John Hurt is introduced as The Doctor but not what The Doctor stands for (literal meaning).

...Further theory... (Oh god Imogen get a life) that quite possibly if Paul McGann's Doctor was aged about 40ish (human years) then to grow into an old man John Hurt before the regeneration into Christopher Eccleston could be possible, no?? Thus making Chris the 9th, Tennant the 10th and Matt the 11th and no numbers are put out of joint... because it's simple an older age Time War version of the 8th Dr who would be ages I don't know 73ish (human years). If you look at John Hurts clothing. Worn, down, torn, unkept... almost tramp like...

~Just my theory. I could be wrong. I really hope if they do do the Time War, they don't boycot it into short not as epic hour and a half episode. I think... If they were to do it possibly a 2 hour epissode on 23rd November which is then TO BE CONTINUED on 25th December which as the Christmas special would also include the next Generation of The Doctor and seeing Matt Turn into?????????? Who knows... ~ But... I am dissapointed with this last series and really hope they're saving the goods for 50th Anniversary. While Moffat's twists are good I do love our Mr R.T.Davis!!

Ps. No we still don't know "The Doctors real name". -lol.

Tutorial: Paper to Faux Metal - Embossing!!

Hello everyone, it's Imogen I thought I might share this technique with you in the form of a tutorial.  I have no idea if this idea is claimed by anyone else.  I just thought it might be an interesting technique as it worked well on metal keys to create a tarnished effect that it might work to turn cardstock/paper into a more metal feel as I wanted to create a wrought iron look.  Success.  Since this worked well I thought I'd share it with you all, hope it helps :)

Video: Two Pin Pot Cushions - Available For Commission.

Hey everyone,

So I was asked if I could make a pin cushion for a friend the other week, but she didn't expect to get what I made for her (see brown vintage influenced pincushion in video below).  While I was at it I made myself a pincushion so I no longer have to lose my really good sewing needles hehe.

I also thought it might be worth a mention that I can be commissioned to make these pot pincushions.  Of course in any colour(s) and using what ever embellies and such while stocks lase.  Princes will be based on products used and time to make etc.  Please note I'm in the UK so additional expense on top of original P&P will be required for outside UK mainland and Scottish Isles.

Terri's Monochrome Altered Box By Me

Ok ok, so the time has come in which I have finished Terri's box, and she has it :) Thus I can share what I've been oh so busy working on this past week or so (ok I've done other things too).

I have done an altered box, she bought it and I altered it.  She requested I tried to do a tutorial on it.. and what a kerfuffle that was...  So I've done that and a matching tag to go with the box.  I made this into 3 videos.  A shorter version which is me showing the finished box and explaining beifly what I did with the box and a much longer sped up walkthrough version/tutorial of what with the box and I did a video just on the tag.

I hope this is somewhat helpful.

myHerms UK Courier Service Review

On a Facebook group I am a part of we have recently been having conversations about the insane increase of Royal Mail prices.  In addition we discussed about some alternative postal methods when I purchased a heave load of broken and used costume jewellery and junk from eBay the seller was using one of the services to ship her items.  As this was one of the services me and the other ladies in the group had been chatting about I decided I would write a personal review on myHermes courier service;

So my items were shipped on Thursday (28th March 2013) morning, though the seller said guaranteed with in 2 days (but some times can take up to 5).  My items arrived about half hour ago (about 2.45pm)...  Today is Saturday (30th March 2013) .  Which isn't bad at all in my opinion.

The weight of the box vs the price and speed out did Royal Mail ten-fold.  Impressed.

Though their tracking information was difficult to decipher and there was nothing on their website when trying to find out what things meant as there was no "Your item is in London" (for example) just "Arrived at depot" ...where?  Additionally there was no information on delivery times and days thought when I contacted them via their facebook page they were only too happy to say they deliver between 7am-9pm Monday-Saturday including some but not all bank holidays (such as Good Friday but not Easter Monday).

Anyways upon trying to google to find out what their tracking information meant all I could find was 100's if not 1000's of negative reviews, complaints and problems...  Which had I have been looking in to the service as a seller would have really really put me off.  Especially when it comes to fragile items as there's no real cover, compensation or protection for lost, broken, stolen or generally damaged items, it would also seem anything marked fragile is free game for a quick 5 aside football match.  myHermes employees are all self employed people.

However, regardless of what I have read I just want to say that I am rather pleased with the service enough to consider using them myself!!  My items did arrive with in 2-3 days totally undamaged and as expected.  For the price and service I would definitely recommend to a friend.

I hope this information helps someone especially given all our recent chats about the Royal Mail increase on Tuesday 2nd April 2013 ~ Kind regards Imogen Cane

Personal Update March 28th 2013

Hey everyone,

Woah it may seem that I'm fairly inactive lately... or perhaps that just my own perception!  But...  I have been busy working on a number of gifts, secrets, suprises and more.  I've just been so super busy that I haven't got any proper projects to show with you because I don't want to ruin suprises for people.

Having said that...  I have started up a new facebook group with Terri and which allows sales, swaps, shows, tells, advertisement... you name it anything crafty goes check it out "Crafty Asylum Institute".  Anyone is welcome, but most first be approved by admin.  We do hope at some point that we'll be looking for additional admin and be able to help and share more with the crafting world.

I honestly don't have much more to say right now.

Anyways I have a whole bundle of free time on my hands at the moment and looking for ideas or challenges... etc... let me know...  hehe...!!  Plus can't wait for my play date with Terri tomorrow hehehehe :D

Imogen xX

Ps.  Seema if you're reading this so sorry I didn't do the milk bottle challenge...  but a certain someone thought it was rubbish and recycled it on Tuesday before I had chance to finish it :( :( he's now barred from my craft room lols xX Bless him...

Polymer Findings 1

Hey everyone,

I figured I'd had most of this polymer clay which I bought over a year ago which I felt I really should use.  I decided to buy some flower molds a while back and for fear of ruining things I just never attempted doing them.

I found at first as with my old molds they didn't work for me.  So I did some research and discovered lightly dusting the molds with baby powder (talcum powder) or corn starch (flour works too) is brilliant.

I set too using plain house hold kitchen baking flour and it worked a treat.

It was then just a case of getting the temperature right or figuring out how to bake with my toaster oven given it's 30 degrees out (UK).

Anyways this is my findings thus far but I will probably do/have more thus the title. hehe.

Let me know what you think:

Crafty Update 14.02.13 & More...

Sunrise 7.20am 13th February 2013

Hey everyone,

First just wanted to say a very warm and loving happy valentines day to everyone!!  I hope you're all feeling happy and loved today...  I know I am!

I thought I'd just share a quick blog update.  So things are going really well...  cracking on with stock making which is now a total of 146 lace flowers made for sale purpose, not including personal use or ones made not for sale purpose. Alongside from that been working on my Etsy and generally designing packaging and invoices and all that good stuff.  Not forgetting doing more research and stuff... So it's all been very busy and positive on that front as well as with personal stuff and such too.  It's all going very well...

The dismantling of my craft room is also going well thus far...  Done a massive over haul of inventory in the past 2-3 days which has been a pain but needs must and listing a bunch of stuff up for sale (locally) as well as some furniture and stuff also other things from the guest bedroom.  It's all been a bit crazy!! sleepy.

Did I mention cleaning?  I've found a new awesome quick tip...  Discovered it myself through trial and error... So here it is.  Detol antibacterial multipurpose cleaning spray (from Poundland) is AMAZING!  ...Why?  Because it removes stazon ink!!  So as said I'm getting rid of furniture and one of the things is the big dining table I use to use for my crafting.  So in attempt to remove the stazon ink from a faux wood surface hmmm...  So I sprayed a little of the spray onto the effected area and left to soak for a couple of minutes.  Then used a rough surfaced sponge (nothing too harsh though) and scrubbed gently at the surface and it came off!!  Tada!!  I'm very surprised ..  It also brought off spray paint, acrylic, cosmic shimmer mist, hair dye, hair bleach, glue, ATG tape, mouse/snail tape, distress inks, pigment ink and a variety of other tough staining product!!  So now aside from the scratches which tbh give character to the table...  it's in pretty good clean condition!!

Anyway so that's about everything new I think...  I'm living in hope that I'll have something to actually share for Saturdays YouTube post but as I said in my RAK from Dawn video on Tuesday I'm not sure if I'll be up and functioning...  I may do a more personal video than a crafty video but honestly we'll have to wait and see since my craft room is now M.I.A lol...

Feb 7th Crafty Updates

Hey everyone,

Wow... So I've taken some time to find myself and realised just where all the negativity has come from this year!! Anyways. I've decided to channel all that bad energy into doing good and productive things! Yes you've guessed it big time craftyness mission!!

So as you may or may not know I've been having a really bad time trying to find a craft room layout that's practical, functional, pretty and usable - for me. What a mission.

Anyways the past couple of days I've gone through everything, yet again, and fully designed a new layout and new order of things and made teeny-tiny "zones" in a more organised and user friendly way.

So while I'm part under taking a massive craft room revamp over the next few weeks I've also been trying to find storage for some items which don't have homes. Inc' altering a box and some packaging to create a cute storage solution of my stickpin wheels!! Almost finished this and of course will share the video on Saturday night's YouTube upload @

Further more I am making lists of things that I want to sell...  Plus some other general none crafty stuff.

But in general been overly crafty this week.  Not to mention 'mount lace' I won "a few small bags of lace" there's more than "a fre small bags!!" this HUGE parcel arrived and I thought "wtf have I bought?" and now having to go through it all and try and work out how to store it all.  I've made a start with 3 'shoe' storage boxes one for white, one for colour and one for white with colour ...what have I got myself into...  on the plus side I've been very busy making more lace flowers...

Since I now easily have over 100 ready made I'm going to start sorting them out for selling :) :D Here's a sneak peak at SOME of them!!

(Click the pic's to enlarge!!)

Anyways... got lots to be getting on with. So I'll be around :D :) plus found an actually wonderful crafty network full of wonderful, lovely and inspiring people.  :) :D

Thinking of selling my lace flowers...

Not the best picture, sorry 22nd January 2013

Hey as the title says I'm thinking of selling my lace flowers...

Here's a sample of none centered flowers ranging from apx 1" to just under 3.5" I took a picture to show friend(s) what I was working on and since had a couple of requests to sell these.

I have decided if I did I'd sell them in packs of 5 (probable mostly larger flowers perhaps 3 large 2 small or well we'll see)  But I wanted to get a rough idea what people would be willing to pay so lets pretend this is a picture of a pack of 5 lace double flowers please answer the 4 questions below.

So hypothetically speaking lets say you're interested...

Question 1 What would you be interested in:

5 lace flowers with bling centers
5 lace flowers with button centers
5 lace flowers with no centers so you could add your own
6 lace flowers in mixture of 2 bling, 2 button and 2 o centers

Question 2 What prices would you be willing to pay (not including P&P) for say a pack of 5 (ranging from 1" - 3.5" double flowers):

Question 3 What P&P prices for UK (not international) would you be willing to pay (shipping packaging and postage) postage:
Up to £1
£1 - 2
£2 - 3
(obviously would vary for combined orders, size and weight - I will ship internationally but postage will be based on international shipment and package weight and size etc...)

Question 4 What other products other than lace flowers would you be interested in?
Polymer Clay / Clay creations
Handmade minature flower sprays (metal with beading)
Miniature stickpins
Die Cuts
Handmade cards
Handmade tags
Mixture of the above
Or other

{More samples of my work coming soon.  I have created a facebook page however it will not be active until I have a good bunch of feedback, research and stock @ - thank you}

Crafting Thus Far 19th Janaury 2013

Hey so I thought I'd write a quick update on my crafting.  So... This year has been interesting, as said it started out with flue and during this time I totally lost my creative mojo and crafting just wasn't working out for me no matter what I did.  I thought long and hard about the things I wanted to do but when it came down to it I just made a big mess, ruined some lovely papers and felt awesome...  So what happened!!?

Dawn started a facebook group (Crafty Fairy Godmothers) and me along with the other 5 wonderful ladies became closer...  Some of us chatting on and off since early November but some I only met through the group early January.  However their wonderful personalities, creative works and generally their insperation and even their influencial chats helped bring out my creative side again.  Dawn started a challenge which I embraced...  I figured the whole thing was actually quite fitting since it was to design a 6x6 card or plaque.  I figured since this month is 1 year since I started crafting that I would create a plaque to represent that, which I did and it really helped me get out of the creative rut I was in.

So moving on from that a number of things happened...  First Dawn sent me a lovely RAK and two of the items were quite interesting.  The first was a photo frame which she has requested I alter for her and send back and the second being a plain circular bolsa box to alter for myself.  Also in the RAK Dawn had created me my very own Crafty Fairy Godmother sign which influenced the next challenge on CFG (which I'm hosting!) it's more of a challenge swap as we each have to make 6 signs (one for ourselves and one each for the other ladies in the group).  Which has proven to be very eventful since most if not all the ladies have totally different tastes and such which has made me embrace things I haven't done before or improve on the things that I have.  Learning all the time.  I got the wonderful idea of making pin cushions also and in the mix of stuff also stickpins, improving on tags and I have some Birthday cards to get started on also!!  Very busy!

We also created the blog which I am really looking forward to help developing, while bettering my skills... inspiring others and perhaps even making new friends!!

I generally feel that this years crafty creations are 100% better than last years...  Even if I say so myself.  But I'm pleased with myself and thus why I am writing this blog and sharing a couple of my recent projects in video form. Lots more to share but don't want to spoil suprises...  hehe.

January Updates Thus Far.

So I'm miles behind with everything and sadley really been neglecting my blog. Sorry blog. Pfft.

Anyways... I have done some stuff this year... I decided as a New Year's Res' that I'd create more and do more YouTube videos... So here's 3 videos from this year but sadley only 1 creation. I have another to film and I'm working on multiple other ones... Not too shabby. Got a whole bunch of ideas... but that's for another day ;)

I entered Challege #1 @ Crafty Fairy Godmothers (facebook group by Dawn Omar). I decided to do a plaque since we had to do a plaque or a card and I decided to make it to mark that I have been crafting for 1 year (since Jan 2012).

I also got some more wonderful wonderful serprise HAPPY MAIL from the lovely Dawn!!

I was also tagged by Marie (who is marigoldblu) on YouTube to answer 9 questions which are mostly related to crafting, youtube or both... with the odd curve ball...

All of the above videos are by me and I am missimoinsane on YouTube.

Happy New Year... 14 days too late. Oopse.

Well where have I been?

So...  November...  December...  Busy with Christmassy stuff... Then Birthday...  Christmas Eve.  Christmas Eve was actually quite wonderful indeed, lots of last minute wrapping...  start of Christmas dinner cooking, Turkey flavoured Bacon Sandwhiches for tea and films, giggles, commedy and snuggles with Josh.  Yes Christmas Eve was indeed quite wonderful.  ...  Christmas Day.  Christmas day...  let me see.  Got up, opened wonderful presents...  Josh started cooking, my Grandparents arrived, opended more ... slightly odd presents, Christmas dinner with laughing, gigles, Toy Story 2 on the box, managed not to avoid the Queens speach, jokes, funny hats, remannicing...  Not an argument or negative moment to be had.  Grandparents left...  We watched Dr Who :D :D and then some commedy where I fell asleep.  Woke up several hours later (Boxing Day Early Hours Of The Morning) ...I'M ILL...  OMG I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE.  So...  Boxing Day...  Was ill (flue) followed by plenty of bed rest through to New Years Eve in which Joshua had to work :( :'( leaving me all along...  but he suprised me and got to come home before midnight (about 11ish) and so we got to do the whole seeing in the New Year and Midnight Kiss :D - Makes me happy.  New Years Day...  Still ill but meh...  Slowley getting better...  over the past 14 days.  Now pretty much better.  Been moving my Craft Room round (well Josh has, he's wonderful) then I've been reorganising it all.  Crafting.  YouTube.  Facebook.  The usual and such...  So now you're upto date.  :)

Happy None Birthday.   Merry Christmas Eve.   Merry Christmas.  Merry Boxing Day.  Happy New Years Eve.  Happy New Year(s Day).  Hello 14th January...
