Monday 28th May 2012 – 11.13am {Back dated}

Been up since 8am… amazingly wonderful long lay in, damn sun shining in my face – waking me up!!  Hazzar!  Another wonderful day!  Until, I went to the bathroom… looked in the mirror and there staring back at me is a multi-tone bad hair day!!  Now I was expecting crazy hair as I went to sleep with wet hair, I wasn’t expecting the brown dye I dyed my hair permanently with 10months+ ago to have 75% washed out leaving my 6” of natural hair and then a huge mess of ginger, brown and blond hair at the bottom!! [For those who don’t know I bleached my hair blond, it didn’t work out well and so I had over half my hair chopped and I dyed all my hair my natural colour of brown in July/August last year and my hair has grown about 6” or so since then!

Anyway, Joshua is continuing to unpack boxes in the living room and I am doing bits and bats, just having a sit down as I feel I’ve over done it again with painting chaos and unpacking and all that good stuff!!  Also the rest of the furniture should be here from Argos today or tomorrow although I fear I have accidentally ordered the extra-large book case and not the one to match the one we already have: Oopse!  Well it’ll do for now and then eventually we’ll get one of the shallower ones and the big deep one can make its way up to my craft room – hehe!  Speaking of craft room, it’s still a mound of boxes and I haven’t even thought about painting that room yet!!  But not sure as I want to unpack just to pack it all again… maybe we shall tackle it when we get back from London.

So that’s today along with a whole list of chores such as cut the grass, do a couple of wash loads, peg the wet clothes out, hose down the throw outside, sort out the bins, tidy and clean the kitchen, wash up, tidy up the hall way, reorganise etc etc – do more in the living room, if Argos turns up today then there’s flat-pack-furniture to build etc…

Then we have a painter and decorator coming tonight to give us a quote for the hall, stairs and landing.  Then tomorrow we’ve got the gas man coming at some point to install our oven and then we’ve got BT coming to install our internet… which will drive me mad as it should all be set up by 8pm tomorrow night but then I need to get an ‘early’ night as we’re off to London for a week on Wednesday!!  Rarr!  How time flies!!  Anyway, must crack on still lots to do!!

UPDATE: 3.32pm
Argos turned up just over an hour ago and so the lovely Joshua is working on building the smaller shelving units which is going to come together and form a large TV unit; like I mentioned in a previous blog regarding ideas and such :D

So while Joshua is doing that I’ve been sorting through more boxes and such and decided to take another break to update on here and just generally chill out for a bit – I feel guilty as anything and utterly useless today and yesterday due to pain and so spending more time resting than working :( *sigh* but we’re getting there :D and the living room is coming together really nicely!!

Sunday 27th May 2012 – 6.03pm {Back dated}

Still with the wonderful weather and a case of just cleaning up.  So tidied up all the masking tape, paper etc…  Folded up all the ‘dust sheets’ we’d used for keeping the carper “clean” while painting (the paint has gone straight through them, what a waist!) then applied the shake-and-vac then hovered all the carpet just to freshen it up and clean up any bits of paper etc.  Wonderful clean living room – tadar!!

So we started bringing in the other furniture, such as the glass display cabinets (both of them) and then we utterly cleaned the cr*p out of them to make sure they sparkle and gleam – looking wonderful.  Put them in place, then put together the table and added the table cloth and the book cases.

We’re waiting on the other book cases to come tomorrow or Tuesday before we can finish setting up the living room but we tackled unpacking some boxes such as DVD’s, Games and Figures etc…  In addition we gained a kitchen instead of the storage room it had become this past week!

In addition to that while Josh was unpacking boxes downstairs I was sorting through clothing and finishing unpacking them upstairs and changing the bedding and a general straighten around.

I had a wonderful long shower and then ate but now I’ve gone super sleepy!!  Anyway, I am off to bed for a very very early night as I am shattered and in lots of pain! :’(

Home: Day 4/4 Living Room Decorating {Pictures}

Saturday 26th May 2012 – 11.36pm {Back dated}

Had several phone calls from companies regarding the stair lift and decided to go with the most professional and reasonable, which was the guy from yesterday morning which I believe was the company “companion stair lifts” anyway, he was charging 800 more than Dolphin but I managed to knock him down to the same price plus an additional 300 for the powered chair motor as appose to manual chair ~ woot.  Anyway we were all happy at the price we got as it was the best price (reconditioned with all the trimmings; £3350!  Happy days, especially given the fact our stairs has a very steep bend which is usually the excess cost!) FULLY RECCOMMENDED thus far!

So in addition I managed to get a number of coats on the skirting boards, dado rails, door frames and general touch up’s in other places.  Taken off all doors and painted them, taken down the blinds and painted the bay-window and the other windowsills! All by 8pm; all painting finished and that included a trip to town and a morning sat out in the garden :D  …have I mentioned it’s been blistering hot since the day we landed??  - Wonderful weather!

So with the doors back on, paint work done all that was left was to start the battle with the boarder!  I honestly don’t know who puts a boarder on with a dado rail, but due to us painting and not papering we needed to add a boarder over where the previous boarder had been.  What a kafuffle!  It wasn’t plain sailing until we decided it was easier to past the wall and add the paper as appose to past the paper and add to the wall!!  - Wonderful!  Actually turned out wonderfully apart from a few small hiccups here and there but nothing too noticeable, in fact you’ll have to look for them!!

So that done I’ve come up to bed, while Josh is putting the blinds back up and washing down the plug sockets and such of which we got paint on.  – Happy days!
